mine is 1200x800mm and has a working area of 775x445mm. I have no problems with flex. The gantry is 930mm makerslide.

Thanks for the input and comments guys. Maybe I'll make the bed a bit bigger.

My 2.x is 18" x 32" which used 1005mm X 712mm Makerslide. I have not had any issue with flex of the gantry or y axis. The only real issue with the extra length was the speced gantry cable carrier wasn't self supporting with the added length. I ended up adding some aluminum U channel to support half of it.

125mm extra (~5") isn't going to flex noticeably more than the existing size. If desired, I'd bolt a piece of 1/8" aluminum to the back of the extrusion for added strength.

Resizing the belts? Just get longer belts, assuming you can buy a belt the length you need from suppliers.

I'm prepping for a new build with the goal of extending the cutting area to roughly 25" X 15". I placed my first order in the makerslide store yesterday, so I'll have a few parts trickling in soon.

Here is the first draft of my re-framing effort. Top view only. I'm working on a 3D version of the frame that I will hopefully post soon. The overall dimensions are 1150 mm X 675 mm.

The two 'Y' axis makerslides should be 635 mm. I have not yet spec'd the 'X' axis makerslide length. I do have some concerns about flex in the extended 'X' axis makerslide (roughly 125 mm longer than Bart's design). Any suggestions on techniques to stiffen this?

Besides the frame, table, and skins resizing efforts - I will need to resize the belts, correct?

Anyone have any pointers on resizing the belts?

Can anyone think of anything else that I may be missing in my scale-up?

I will share all drawings and dimensions in this thread as things progress. This will probably end up being a very slow build as I didn't get in on Bart's last pre-order... but I'm already starting to accumulate the parts that I can get ahold of.
