400 steps vs. 200 steps

Just wondering if there is any substantial difference between the two on a 2.x machine. My assumption is that the 400 gives slightly better precision, while the 200 would move quicker. I would typically lean toward more precision, but wonder if it is better on a laser to have a head that can move quicker. (I'll be using a 40W laser)

My 2.x uses the 400 step motors and it can still get up in the 400 mm/s range without any issues. With my 40 watt tube most of my engraving happens in the 250 to 350 mm/s range
