Your heart has to go out to them but when you see the way parcels are treated by the carriers It is surprising that any glass tubes make it at all.
My little baby tube traveled FedEx from US to UK packed like this and actually made it in one piece - could only have been luck.

my last tube came wrapped in bubble wrap and then stuffed inside a 4" diameter PVC tube which was then wrapped again in bubble wrap and put in a long box. It probably would have survived falling off a 5 story building.
