Yes I read that recently but it also said they strongly recommend 1000 steps per inch.

I finally got all the brackets and fixing points welded on, so it is time for a coat of paint.

do you know that your 60W power supply probably can not handle a 80W tube?
did you ask them??

Yes it will run that tube.

The power supply has more than sufficient voltage to trigger. This style of tube is shorter and voltage requirements are dependent on length.

It will be under the max milliamp specs for the tube, but that is a decision I made, as it should extend its working life.

I do not expect any more output than 60w. If I get dissatisfied with that I can upgrade the power supply to 80w. :)

Your project looks real good,
I want to make the same sort of design only not the case beneat it.
Also with my FSE card ( got a 40w laser but area is to small)

Bit more progress.

Got the tube mounted. Need to make up a cover for this.

And a lot of the electricals installed. This will be redone if/when I change over to a DSP.

On the top panel is the main power switch, Emergency Stop, Ammeter and a 10 turn pot with integrated counter dial.

Front panel is the test fire button with a safety interlock, free axis switch which allows for easy manual axis positioning, and the three ancillary power switches.

Got some eggcrate material for a cutting surface.

Has its own drop in support frame. Don't know what other surfaces I might need yet, maybe a solid surface for engraving flat items.

When I make a rotary axis, I will make that a drop in unit too.
