Woo Hoo!! I have been out in the shed cutting and engraving. :D

First time mirror alignment took a while. Next time will be easier.

It is late and I must go to work tomorrow. Will post some pics etc. soon.

Did not like the idea of another lens in the path of the laser. Not to mention the cost of said lens and another mount.

So I thought I would give this method a go. I saw this idea somewhere and am not claiming it as mine.

The laser pointer drops into the laser path when the lid is open. Then lifts out of the way when the lid is shut.

Once the mirrors are adjusted for the primary laser, obviously you don't want to move them. So the only way to make the dot concentric is to do all the adjustment at the small laser module.

Made a mount with adjustment in every possible plane.

Works great. It is hard to photograph with a flash but the dot is clear and sharp.

When the lid is open then the red dot module drops into place.

And when the lid closes the red dot module lifts clear of the main laser path.

Although I can't find the reference (even though I posted it!) it was something I found on a 2.x laser buildlog that's not on this forum. The bracket was 3D printed and designed for a 2.x laser. I actually ordered a suitable pointer and I meant to print it myself. Looks like I've lost the link, though.

Yes it is clever. As I said, it is not my idea. I am not that smart. :?
