Code: Select all
Can someone send me a link to the best STL file so I can print one?

Here's one I'm looking at: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:8252

Pardon me, I'm a n00b at this, but the SCAD files there seem to have multiple definitions for mounting schemes. It might be the case that one is already compatible with your "standard" mount, or the mount could be modified to "just fit", which would be optimal.

I'm very interested in you adaptor plate strategy..... can you tell us more?

What's it going to require to mount a Wade's (or derivative) extruder to the ORD bot?

I plan on having plates for the the MakerBot MK7 and a few others. I do not have a Wade's extruder.

Bart I plan to use Makerbot MK7 Extruder, it has been already purchased.

Maybe would be a good idea,IMHO, to place a preorder item on your store, as it seems to have worked very nice with de ORDs, to to help sort out how many for each extruder pattern you will need.

Bart

Here is the link to Makerbot MK7 mounting plate https://github.com/makerbot/Stepstruder-MK7/blob/master/MP1714-MK7-mounting-plate-RevB.PDF
I hope it helps.

Please don't send me requests for those yet. I have enough to keep track of already.

I'll get right on it.

I have mounted a mk7 on my ORD bot. The short hot-end gives tons of z-room, which is nice. It is small and matches the ORD aesthetic.

The Guidler is the latest Wade's variant that people recommend, however Greg's Hinged Accessible Extruder is the one I have ready to go for my kit. I believe they all have the same hole pattern for mounting as the original Wade's. You can probably check the .stl files to be sure.

One other word about the mk7: It uses a thermocouple. Thermocouples are superior in every way to thermistors except ease of use. If you want to be able to plug and play, buy a thermistor and swap it for the thermocouple. Otherwise, you'll have to use a thermocouple amplifier. Makerbot sells one (http://store.makerbot.com/thermocouple- ... 0-kit.html), or you can build your own.

I'm planning to get an arcol.hu hot end (V4 is very short, comparable to the MakerBot extruder / hot end combination) and a Wade extruder, then print a Greg's w/guidler to replace the Wade. So a Wade mount would be a most welcome addition for me.
