Jason,

This thing looks pretty sweet! I like what you did to switch the y axis and rotary axis around. Have you tried it out yet?

It works as intended and I have not killed a driver yet but it has not had a great amount of testing.

I have a Thunderlaser blower/air assist control unit That I hope to fit this week end but I have been ill all week so I may not get round to it just yet
My exhaust fan is in the next room so I plan to use this to send power to a larger relay to control my fan I,m just unsure what sort of relay to get :?

I'm assuming that's just a simple relay. I was going to test out the function of the blower control on mine last week after you posted these details, but I ended up moving. Bah. I've got laser stuff all over my new garage now. Hopefully the LO DSP has the same function as the Thunderlaser one.

Just a few update pictures

I added a one litre bottle to the air assist to smooth out the pulsing

Image

I added a table cutting grid this was a vent from http://www.flatduct.co.uk/products/eggc ... ium-finish
Once disassembled it left me with just enough grid to fit inside my table

Image

The grid is resting on the rotary adaptor shoes and some acrylic brackets

Image

I also cut a new front panel it has switches for exhaust and air assist so I can chose from auto or manual or off when I get the relays working
( I am not happy with the engraving quality though )

i like your front control switches, do they control relays which control 110v/230v?

They will control 24v dc/240v ac relays when I find some :D at the moment they do nothing
I still have not got the thunderlaser blower control to work and I am unsure how big of a relay I will need for my extractor fan
240v and 750w = just over 3 amps unless I am wrong
but will motor start up current be more ? will I need a 5 amp relay or to be safe a 10 amp relay ?

I got a response from Thunder Laser on the relay. They say it works fine on their machines, but that have heard other customers with trouble too. They are reviewing the circuit and requested my schematic because my system works fine.

New optics

Postby J45on » Fri Nov 04, 2011 7:46 pm

Just a few updates
I have received my maker slide upgrade , Thanks bart :D
I also received some new optics that I would like to try and fit to my machine

Image

Except they forgot to add the mirrors to the package
So all I have is the head.

Image

Having an adjustable mirror on the head should be great for tweeking

What optics are they and where do you get them, is this an upgrade over the Build log Bom optics? What was the cost?

I bought them from ebay here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150542780972? ... 580wt_1413

These are NOT an upgrade over the build log optics
I have no idea if I can make these fit the 2.x laser yet , but I will try
But until I get the mirrors and mounts I won't know at all
