Check out this bad ass looking controller from Royco on Kickstarter.

I just backed it!

I have met hundreds of people in the DIY "industry" and Roy Cortes stands out as one of the best. He never ships anything until it is totally ready and all his designs have a great quality look. He is super responsive to all questions I have ever had.

It looks super good, easy to plug to a x1 x3 printing without a comp.... plus the notoriety of the Creator. I also appreciate the lack of BS reward and the margin are obviously minimal.
I am in.

Tipping point already.

Looks like it is a go. The goal was reached already. Congrats to Roy.

See it at PS:One this week

Postby bdring » Tue Dec 18, 2012 2:56 pm

Roy sent me a sample of an early prototype of this last week. I will show it off at PS:One's CNC night on Thursday. Stop by if you want to see it. The meeting is open to all. I hope to have it wired to the Hadron by then.

Thursday? That's great. I missed that notice and now see it is even weekly.
Since starting Cub Scouts with my grandson I haven't been down there because their meetings are also the second Wednesday of the month.

Where do you plan on installing it?
The LCD i'm using (along w/ a membrane keypad) is barely thin enough on its own to sit on the electronics plate, facing the front, without butting against the X gantry, so an alternate idea for mounting would be appreciated :)

I currently have a V1(644 chip) X1 on my Hadron and intend on getting an X3 and moving the X1 to a Shapeoko.

Is the X1 suitable for a 3 axis CNC? I don't see why not, but am I overlooking anything?

If suitable, will the 644 chip hold GRBL and the code for the ViKi panel, or will I still need to swap the chip?
