Steel Dual V Wheel

Lookie what I have. :?:

This is a dual V angular contact bearing like they sell over at VXB, except for one special difference. I had these made specially for me and they are not available anywhere else.

What is the difference? You should be able to tell just from the picture.

5mm Bore

Postby bdring » Thu Jul 12, 2012 12:08 pm

Yes,

5mm Bore. These are fully compatible with makerslide parts. I used to sand down #10-32 screws in the drill press to get them to fit, but that is a real PITA on 5mm screws. I will start selling them on Makerslide store soon.

They work on stock makerslide for light duty applications or hardcoated makerslide for heavy duty applications. I use them on my plasma machine.

And how many bearings are inside? Only one?

Can you please explain the difference between this 5mm bore and
https://www.inventables.com/technologie ... -wheel-kit
that was also supplied for MakerSlide?
(I was wondering for some time already why there must still be 2 bearings and why not change delrin double bearing V wheel instead and use only ONE bearing.)
Thank you

Ball bearing don't resist axial rocking very well. The dual bearings help fix this.

True Dual V, angular contact steel bearings are quite expensive. They would also quickly wear the aluminum on machines like the ShapeOko and ORD Bots. They need steel rails or hardcoated aluminum.

When do you expect to have them in the store?

Do you have any plans to make larger eccentric nuts to be used with a 3/8" V-Groove from vxb? I have not seen anyone else carrying eccentric nuts - neat idea.
