Laser is full output always on engrave

Postby dcassyc1 » Tue Feb 28, 2012 6:22 pm

Hi everyone,
I want to engrave granite but I've never been able to control the laser current in my K40 setup. The engraved image has no detail because the entire scanned area is engraved at about 20 MA.
The DSP board is version PH-board Ver 2.0 . If there's any more information I can submit please let me know. The DSP is wired to the laser Power Supply like this:

DSP LP! terminals: Laser PS terminals
1 ----------------------- 3 G
2 ----------------------- 6 TH
3
4 ----------------------- 2 IN
5 ----------------------- 3 G
6

Two other people managed to get the board working in their setups, and I can manually control the laser current with a potentiometer when to test if the power supply responds to an analog signal, which it does. I suppose there's a pull up/down resistor missing somewhere and the control line is left dangling so defaults to sending full current signal from the laser PS.
I will get some gray scale test patterns together to quantify results and have something universal to refer to. Let me know if you need any more info.
cheers,
Denis
