Less competition :(

Postby SpacedCowboy » Wed Jun 13, 2012 10:41 pm

According to Full Spectrum Laser, they will no longer be selling the retina-engrave controller as a standalone unit. You must now buy an FSLaser engraving machine in order to get the retina-engrave part.

(see: http://www.cnczone.com/forums/laser_engraving_cutting_machines/156252-fs_laser_just_lost_sale.html post #11

FSL has made the business decision to no longer sells control card by themselves so the only way to get RetinaEngrave is to purchase an entire machine from FSL.

[sigh]. I guess Bart ought to take down the advert for it on the kits page, then :(

not to worry...

I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Usually, when someone decides to leave a near-monopoly in a growing and lucrative niche market with 1000% profit margins,
other people quickly step in to fill that space.
Often with something of better value too...

Not to pile on here, but the few customer service type interactions I've had with them left me with a pretty sour taste in my mouth. I was hoping to buy one of their cards after someone I knew showed me theirs, but stuck with the DSP after a few calls to them.
