Newbie Issue- Laser engraves but doesn't cut

Postby owensbyjason » Sun Dec 22, 2013 4:51 pm

I have searched the forum and not found any others with this issue. I am sure its just a setting that I have wrong but cant find the problem. I am using the 2012 DSP on a 2.X and it will engrave deeply like a boss but when I am trying to cut it will only make a line. Any assistance on where to go from here is greatly appreciated.

Not sure you've explained the problem well enough to get a good answer. Post picture of your result, settings used, setup process.

Thanks for your response, I discovered my problem today. I was attempting to cut too fast and without a full understanding of PPI settings. I slowed down the feed rate and upped the PPI and is now cutting. It seems my learning curve was also set too fast.

Yep. Newbie issue. Perhaps you've seen far too many sped up videos of a laser cutting through things. There is a learning curve, definitely. And every new material will have it's own settings to figure out. I've been using my laser for over two years now and I'm still figuring stuff out all the time.
