Flow control switch wiring question.

Postby reeser » Thu Apr 16, 2015 9:10 pm

Could someone tell me if the WP connection on the DSP has to be grounded to take the 24V off of the WP connector.
My flow control switch is wired to the Laser Power Supply connection and goes to ground when water is flowing (NO).
Can you just ignore the DSP Flow control by not checking "Water Protect" in the Manufacturers Parameters?

Thanks

Not sure if this will help you....

I have the WP grounded on only the PSU. Otherwise it will not fire. I do not have anything hooked to my DSP's WP terminal.

Hi Rich:
If you have the WP grounded on the PSU doesn't that negate the safety of the water flow switch? If I understand the wiring of the power supply the water flow switch grounds the WP terminal and allows the power supply to fire the laser. If it is grounded all the time what prevents the laser from firing with no water flow?

Maybe I'm confused. certainly wouldn't be the first time on this project. :)

Yes it is risky, but I have a water chiller that beeps really obnoxiously when the flow is cut off. I shouldn't be too far away from the laser if anything happens.

I just wanted to let you know that WP to ground is needed for the laser to fire.
