I'm amazed after reading the other thread that this could not have been corrected with a new firmware download. Wow! That's an expensive mistake to have to re-spin a new board! Perhaps they can reassign the PWM output to a different pin that was designated as an output for something else?

It looks like there is a hardware issue with these boards per this thread. When configured to TH the board will fire with full PWM power when the Reset button is depressed. You will have to wire them using TL which results in the laser firing when power is removed.

Problem has been addressed and a solution was found.
Four components need to be removed from the main board:
R118, R174
D38, D39,D46,D47

I'll post two pictures later

By the way, a new version software (V5.77) has just posted on my forum. They haven't told me too much detal what change has made or what features added. The programmer said it's more like a 'polish' version, not major change has mde though.

The only change I saw that was changes is one of the options screen now has translations for the "Enabled" checkbox albeit one of them with a typo. Looking forward to those pictures, although not sure I want to be the first to start ripping things off my $500 controller.

Good point. I wonder what else, (if anything) the removal of these components may affect, I'm sure they were there for a reason to begin with. ???

Solution for current owner (purchased before Dec 8th) with the TL 'unwanted left-over fire' during powering off
http://www.lightobject.info/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=902

It's pretty straight forwarded and seems quite easy to do it. I fixed 5 boards on yesterday and it took me about 20min for all.

Hi Marco,

In that post you linked to, you state that there are 4 components to be removed but you actually show 6, so it's 6 as shown ?

And have you tested one of the boards that you just modified ?

Also, are you pre-modifying all boards from here out? Thanks!

Sorry, it's six, not four. I didn't test it myself because I want a solution desperately. May be you guys hold on that and let me try it first.

If I didn't interpret wrong, the laser fire out when power to the DSP card was cut out, right?

All my board now have been modified. So, tomorrow I'm going to give a try!

Just tested a modified 10min ago and the solution the tech provided worked. No more 'fire' after power to the DSP card disconnected. I'll try one more modified carnd and if it works out, the it's safe to do the modification on your board.
