flickerfly, I got the nuts from Misumi, part number: HNKK5-3. The set screws came from McMaster, part number: 91390A107. These are the M3 size. For the switches I use Honeywells from Mouser, part number: 785-ZW50F15CD1-Z. I attach the switches with zip ties, also from Mouser, part number: 644-PLT.7M-M0. These zip ties are narrow enough to go through the microswitch holes. I've seen others use wood screws for the switches, but the zip ties seem to be working fine.

Thanks. I was thinking about picking up the t-slot nuts from McMaster Carr also. As I understand, any 20mm T-Slot nut should work, right?

I ordered my 6 end stops with the X3 which seem to fit great. I am using some Radio Shack Machine Screws and nuts. I picked up those screws awhile back, but they work great for this and have a good look. I'm shooting for aesthetics.

Part Number 64-3010 (screws)
Part Number: 64-3017 (nuts)

Yeah, the McMaster ones should work. I went with Misumi because I think that's where the ones in the kit came from. I hear you about the aesthetics ... I have so many zip ties on this thing already, a few extra didn't hurt.

 Well, apparently zip ties don't preclude good looks.

Mounting to the OrdBot

Postby flickerfly » Fri Jul 19, 2013 3:30 pm

Have any of you folks come up with a good solution for mounting the X3 to the Orbot? I've been playing around with a few ideas, but I'm not completely happy with any of them.

This guy should work really well -- Thing 39982. The trick is to make sure your handle plate is on the right way (at first, I had mine on backwards and the RAMPS holes didn't line up).

Oh, nice! :-) Thanks :D

Did you run you wire under the board since there isn't much space beside it?

Hi!

I have, as many others, a lot of troubles with the USB connection. So I plan to use a real serial TTL connection between my computer (which has a RS232 port) and the Azteeg X3 (I will use a RS232-TTL converter, of course).

I found that X3 has a connector (J2) with RX/TX/+5V/GND pins, so I guess it can be used to send commands and gcode. Am I write?

1) is the +5V line a power input? In other words, can I power up the X3 through this pin, like from usb connector?

2) is is connected to the same serial port as USB? If yes, is there something to do to avoi conflict from the internal FTDI chip? If not, what should I change in Repetier firmware to use this new serial port?

3) Did anyone already make this mod? I read that the main goal was to plug a bluetooth module... Does it work? Is it reliable?

Thanks for reading.
