Hadron Wiring Spring Size

Postby mikegrundvig » Sat Sep 15, 2012 4:36 pm

Hi all; anyone know the diameter/details of the spring used to hide the wires? The holes are 7.75mm, but I want to get the right spring as I love the look on Bart's printers. Thanks!

Mike,

That's the spring I used on my Hadron. It fits great, but its starting to show some minor rust spots. You may want to get the stainless steel version. I believe McMaster sells it (or a similar size spring) in stainless for a few extra bucks.

Does anyone know where this very spring could be obtained in Europe? McMaster-Carr don't appear to want to sell to us foreigners...!

Otherwise I was thinking of some Igus track (which I can get from Farnell, for example, but it's around 28 Euros per metre).

I don't know where you can get it in Europe but I do know that igus track/cable chain is pretty cheap on eBay.

Thanks, Mike. I took a quick look and for the sellers that will ship to Europe the price is about the same. I think I'll go with the Igus track anyway, it looks like it'll be fun to play with!
