Normally I install them with an arbor press, but I did not have access to that last weekend. At home I either use my drill press or a vise. That was taking a long time to do all the kits I had to ship, so I started shipping them out unpressed. Everyone should have access to a drill press or vise.

Just press them in square and flush to the surface. Do not hammer them in. Try to remember to make a left and a right version.

I brought in about 200 of them to work today to use the arbor press. There is nothing magical about the arbor press other than time savings. These nuts don't take a lot of force to install.

What's the best way to remove the nuts from the existing blocks without damaging them?

One solution is to print a new one:

Just push the nuts out using a vise or drill press. The inserts are really tough, but you need to be careful about the plastic part. You can push on an M8 bolt threaded into the insert or use shank of a drill bit slightly larger than 8mm.

I would try to use the existing part rather than print one. If it is not smooth, flat and square it defeats the purpose of isolating movement on the shafts.

I just used a M8 screw, put the block over a piecce of wood with a hole larger than the nut, and used a hammer to push it out.

I wanted to keep my originals so I printed flurins'. Came out great and works perfect with bdrings' "Z-pushers".
