OK Thanks! I'm not sure about that, maybe there isn't any issues.

What I can first do is to measure the couplers height with and without load...

But I don't think that the load changes that much, because of the Z geometry (over-constrained).

Hmmm.... I better get one on order. I think my Hadron is going home with my grandson at the end of school break.

I'm very happy with what I've gotten from RRD.

If you are worried about compressing the couplings with load, put a steel ball in the coupling between the ends of the shaft. That will allow to flex, but not compress.

My experiences with my kit from ATI:

Ordered kit on 2/9, per web page expected delivery is in March. No order acknowledgement from ATI.

Kit arrived on 3/11 right on time. I have the following problems with the kit:

1. missing part #20 16 M5 x 30 BHCS (Emailed ATI, says they will mail replacement, the bolts arrived today.

2. part #6, Makerslide 420mm rail, has a dent in the linear rail in a bad spot (Contacted ATI, they asked me to send a picture of the damage, and I did, but have heard no response. I advised ATI that I have had a total of 6 CNC machines, so I have some experience, and I am sure the dent will affect the quality of the print.) No new rail arrived with the bolts above.

3. The belt clamps are the old version that requires a double layer of belt to hold the continuous belt supplied.

4. the Delran lift blocks that raise and lower the X axis on the gantry have holes too large for the 8mm rod, and they are not threaded so couldn’t lift the rod in any case. (My mistake, the way the lift blocks work is changed, and there are new parts in the kit that are threaded. They new parts are not mentioned in the build instructions that I could find, but they are mentioned in the forum)

5. My four plates are of two different colors, with only the extruder carriage being deeply anodized, the other three are washed out light blue, probably from the previous run. If you go to my build log here:
http://www.k4mg.com/Hobbies/CNC/Ord_Bot_Hadron_Build_Log.htm
You can see the difference in the picture of the completed axis.

I plan to finish my build with the defective rail, document further that it doesn't work satisfactorily, and ask again for a replacement rail.

Update: 4-19-2013 took a long to finish the build due to a defective Ramps board, see the posts about that problem. Anyway, within next week I will do some calibrating and printing and see if the dent affects the print quality.

The colors tend to be off on the flat verses bent parts. This is due to the alloy. The flat are 6061-T6 and the bent are 5052-H32. All parts could be made out of 5052, but the 6061-T6 is much stiffer.

I would rather have the better stiffness than the exact color match.
