guys so i started printing the test cube, the bottom two layers are fine but when it continues on the other layers the ABS for some reason starts to peal
and the edges begin to lift . what could be the reason of this..

Looks like your Z axis is not good; if you lift too much at each layer, the filament does not stick on the previous layer...

It looks to me like your bed isn't level, that would be why it's sticking nicely on one side of the 1st layer and not on the other.

This is general stuff, so it might not all apply to your machine, but I think the best bet is to

1) level your gantry: I use a reference (in my case a piece of plexiglass) that I lower the gantry down to, and then spin the threaded rods by hand until both sides are even with my reference.

2) level your bed: bring your extruder down to the bed, and stop it approx 0.1mm (about the thickness of a piece of paper) from the front left corner. Then move to the back right, and adjust your bed to 0.1mm. Repeat on the final two corners, and that should set it pretty nicely.

3) make sure your extruder is calibrated. I like this Slic3r calibration guide: http://richrap.blogspot.ca/2012/01/slic ... s-and.html

You may don't have the good ratio between steps and mm?

See the thread
viewtopic.php?f=33&t=1578

Move your Z-Axis 10mm then measure if it moved 10mm
you may need a dial gauge or a good set of calipers to measure it accurately

Cozmicray so I saw the post, but at one point I remember you saying that you are using acme rods on your printer so your calculations might be different from the 8M rods is this correct.

This might help with the calculations: http://calculator.josefprusa.cz/

My ATI provided Ordbot came with M8 threaded rods.
a M8 nut spins on nicely

The guys at ATI use 2519.68 not 2560
their BOM lists the z rod as Threaded Rod M8 x 1.25 x 245mm Long
#define DEFAULT_AXIS_STEPS_PER_UNIT {78.7402,78.7402,2519.68,106.707} // default steps per unit for ORD Bot Hadron

Image shows spreadsheet of my z-axis measurement at different steps/mm
Im using 2570 steps/mm
