EMC2 - starting points for speed and acceleration?

Postby bill.french » Wed Nov 23, 2011 2:54 pm

I'm rebuilding an old FullSpectrumLaser 40w unit.

I'm using EMC2 -- what is a good starting point for the speed and acceleration settings? Thank you!

Assuming you're in mm the units are just mm/s/s so you can think about how long it should take to reach full speed and do some estimates.

The 2.x is mechanically different but if you want some numbers to play with I use 470mm/s (that's step limited at 8x microstep for me) and accel of 7500mm/s (you have to set STEPGEN_MAXACCEL to 25% higher than this) for X and for Y I use 200 and 5000. Y I could probably increase but it already shakes the unit hard enough to bounce the open door perilously close to slamming shut.
