Hi there,
as wrote in some other posts, I'm in the phase of studying all the needed stuff for my 2.x build (a bit larger than the normal dimensions)
When I arrived at the electronics side, I realized that I would like to avoid "normal" solutions such as DSP / MACH3 /EMC2 in favor of a more friendly interface, and when I found the laoslaser project (
http://redmine.laoslaser.org/projects/laos/wiki) it seemed me the best solution for my needs (or at least it is worth a try, already having the mbed controller in my hands)
there are some small things I don't like too much in their board design , especially if compared to the buildlog Laser interface PCB, so I'm thinkering about redesigning it with few improvements, such as different connectors (I like more the buildlog's ones) , connections and space for a cooling fan for the polulu drivers, fixing their small HW bug, and so on. Here (
http://redmine.laoslaser.org/boards/2/topics/435 ) is my thread about this matter.
So the reason I'm writing also there is: is there any improvement / suggestion from buildlog users about a laoslaser "redesign"?
In the attachment my current component placement... very early stage!
Anyhow, is there anyone currently using the laos board as controller for his 2.x build? Any comment / suggestion is more than welcome!
all the best
C
