Well, that's easy to fix, at least in the US. I went from -0- to Extra class in about 90 days. Studied, took online practice tests and passed Technician and General on the first try, same night, missed extra by 4 questions.
Went home, studied some more, paid for hamtestonline.com and passed the extra exam a month later.
There is NO code requirement at any level anymore, so there is really no barrier like there used to be. There are free online practice tests that you can use, over and over, which works well for Tech and General. I found that there was just too much material on the Extra exam and I needed a more formalized course of study, and "intelligent" practice tests that kept exercising my weak points until I got better.
If you're hanging out in here, you're certainly capable......
