MakerSlide - why is it so good?

Postby Jano » Thu May 24, 2012 9:16 am

As I can see MakerSlide is quite popular. But in the USA only( or not only ??).
Can anyone explain to me what is the reason?
There are more kinds of similar profiles like Makerslide.
Thanks

I think because it is relatively cheap compared to other solutions, it's pretty accurate, it's low friction, and I really like that it's open source. You can't compare it to commercial linear ways (too expensive) or plastic sliders on regular extrusions (not very accurate). It was a good replacement for the previous solution of gluing metal V rails to a regular extrusion.
