Timing belt coming loose on ORD Bot

Postby Pazu » Wed Jul 11, 2012 2:13 pm

Hi all,

My ORD Bot has been running well and the X, Y belts are tensioned as much as possible and I'm pretty sure the M5 screw is very tightly fastened as well.

After a couple rounds of printing, I notice that the Y belt coming loose and there are visible backlashing marks appearing in the Y direction. I'm curious as to how this can happen?

I'm pretty sure the belt does not stretch but the printer does go very fast now and there are a lot of high frequency vibrations with honeycomb infills.

Any ideas? Again, I'm pretty sure it's always very well tightened.

A picture of the visible backlashing marks?

I wait for my Hadron (sic), which speed do you get on yours?

Sorry for the late reply.

I finally know the cause. Here's a picture of what I meant by the effect of the loose Y.

The reason it came loose was because the belt clamp does not squeeze the belts tight enough and they are able to slip pass the teeth when the force is great enough through vibration.

I fixed it by gluing the belt together and inserting a piece of scrap ABS to tighten the space. I think it will work.
