Original DSP "hole" cutting mode

Postby LeonS » Sat Jul 21, 2012 7:48 pm

HI all,

I am a member of a maker lab here in northern VA (NOVA Labs). We just got a big Hurricane Laser with a Leetro controller. The techs at Hurricane said that the "hole" cutting mode is the functional equivalent to PPI cutting. I haven't tried it on their laser yet but I have tried it on my 2x.

The controller seems to be trying to cut lines with individual pulses but the geometry is all wrong. It consistently draws a rectangle the wrong size and the ends never meet, It does this exactly the same every time.

Is "hole" mode completely broken? Is hole mode supposed to do something other than cut vectors with pulses?

I'm totally confused. Couldn't find any useful information on the web.

Regards,
Leon

I have been using a big Hurricane laser with a newer Leetro controller at the local maker lab (NOVA Labs). "Hole" cutting mode on it seems to be a functional substitute for "PPI" cutting. It works as expected. The geometry is identical to that of normal cut mode.

Therefore I presume that hole mode is more like "hosed" mode on my controller.

It's a pity but I can live with it.

Cheers to all,
Leon
