Right now it's a 23. I haven't figured what my power requirements are yet... I'll do the mass calculations once I'm satisfied with how everything looks. X and Y are 17's ... I suspect these will be similar loadings to the ORD Bot.

I designed a 300x300x300 Makerslide printer with stationery bed a while ago. Never build it though. What do you think, should I give it a go maybe?

I would keep the Y axis on the bed! Or you may have problems to get something very rigid (so accurate).

I like the X axis drive mechanism there ... not that you want to be slinging around two pounds of stepper motor, but it's a cool arrangement nonetheless.

I don't get it. With that arrangement, why not set it up as an H-bot / CoreXY?
The structure you've designed is already shaped for it.

You are right, I was having the same thought in the shower this morning and went to the computer to look up the H-bot type design when I read your post. How is that for synchronicity?

I wanted to go the CoreXY route on my big printer but struggled with the geometry too much. Not quite enough room the way I have the maker slides setup while trying to use mostly standard parts... something to revisit with fresh eyes later.

Hah!
Anyways, CoreXY + bowden might be a sweet setup.
