Free DXF to G Code converter

Postby hoda0013 » Mon Jan 17, 2011 4:18 pm

I found a free .dxf to g-code converter online (well actually my roommate found it). I created a simple .dxf in Solidworks with curves and block letter text. The software seemed to interpret the .dxf correctly and wrote g code with a .ngc file extension which is exactly the format that EMC2 is looking for. You can find it here:

I will have to wait until tonight to try it out, but I'm very excited by this find. There is another free program called Ace Converter, but in my experience it choked on text so I haven't used it since. I have also used a free piece of software called DeskEngrave which will output G-Code for text only. This worked wonderfully once I learned how to fix a small bug in the output file (It omits an important G01 at the beginning of the file which causes my machine to give an error)

Does anyone else know of any other software like this out there?
