Where to source V-rail

Postby sandro » Fri Nov 12, 2010 4:19 am

Hi all,

After collecting parts from Mitsumi et al, I have most of the mechanicals for my cutter. Except, I just noticed that I have no v-rail, none at all. I suppose I missed it because it's listed as a purch/fab part from buildlog.net. Is Bart selling vrail, and it's just not on the parts page? Or is there actually some other vendor people are sourcing v-rail from?

Oh, I just has a look at the drawings for the z-axis v-rail, and it looks like the v-rail is available from McMaster-Carr, part no. 1582T21.

But it also looks like the BOM pricing on the gantry v-rail is wrong. It's lists the pieces at $8/ea, but they're longer (and presumably pricier) than the y-axis pieces.
McMaster currently has these at $19ea.

Does anyone know if there's a cheaper source for the v-rail?

I do not know of a low qty cheaper source. Here are some other sources if know of. If someone wants to get higher qty quotes from these guys, I might be willing to buy and under sell McMaster.
