Rail Grease

Postby trwalters001 » Sat Dec 04, 2010 3:18 pm

Hi All

I've got THK linear rails. The THK web site says to use "lithium soap grease" to lubricate them. Wikipedia says that is the same as lithium grease.

What is everyone else using? Are you using a grease gun on the truck fittings?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Tim,

Mine were second user and the grease had gone pretty hard. After all the time taken to clean out the old grease I didn't want it to happen again so I now use Chain Saw Oil. This stuff is sort of sticky and doesn't drip and is easily applied with a small grease gun. I bet nobody else is using this stuff :D

Oh god, more chainsaw bar oil. The stuff is intended for what it is named. People use this crap on lathe ways as well and it is no comparison to the real way lube. If you want an oil use Vactra #4.

I use kluber synthetic grease in my rails.

No lubrication on my Laser (rebuilt ULS-25). Spray Lithium on my CNC mill.
