Stepper motor specs?

Postby DasGrinch » Tue Sep 06, 2011 1:59 am

I've poked around on a few subforums trying to find the specs, what kind of torque rating do the steppers need to have, and what kind of length? I found three 4218L-01D-02 motors by lin engineering in my parts boxes, a lot of folks use them for building RepRap 3d printers. At 75 oz/inch the data sheet says it's 'high torque' but I don't know if that's enough, or if they're long enough/too long for this particular application.

That's plenty of torque, but note that the Y stepper must have a rear shaft. I had steppers perfectly good for the laser but I ended up getting them from Bart anyway just to get that Y stepper.

Yeah, they're dual-shaft stepper motors, so I'm set there, providing the shafts are the proper size. I'm going to take one with me to work and measure, I just wanted to verify the specs that I can't measure with a digital caliper. Thanks.
