I believe that is the tapped version of the gantry extrusion. It is supposed to be tapped M5x.80. When I did mine, I actually tapped it #10-24. The M5 is preferred.

Originally, it was to be tapped by the builder, but Bart changed it so people without taps, etc. would not have a problem.

Actually you don't "need" to order extra nuts, you "need" to remember to put them all in in the right order, but you won't, so order about 20-30 post assembly nuts.

Nut question

Postby J45on » Mon May 09, 2011 8:42 pm

Ok I nearly ordered 211 bags of 100 frame nuts
I am presuming I order 2 bags of HNKK5-5 and the 11 post assembly nuts make up the 211 nuts needed ?
Is this correct ?

Or is there a way to order the 211 nuts that I have missed ?

The consensus is buy three bags of the HNKK5-5 (you actually drop the per part price at that quantity), and buy a bunch (30-50) of post assembly nuts. The ball spring nuts are highly recommended. Those spring nuts nuts will be your best friend and you will curse the HNKK5-5 when you forget to install them.

Does anyone know if Misumi ship internationally ie to Cape Town, South Africa, as the profiles are too pricey here the equivalent to $572 and then I still need to cut the 3000mm lengths in the required sizes, if I go with cut to size pieces the it works out to over the equivalent of $800.
You guys in the US are so lucky to have everything available at such a reasonable price.
