Campaign Signs

Does anyone know if Coroplast (The corrugated plastic that campaign signs are often made from) is a good laser cutting candidate?

If so, there is probably plenty of stock sitting in the front yards of your neighborhoods to be had tonight. I suppose you could also contact campaign headquarters and pick up the extras that are lying around.

Just a thought.

Hi Dillon,
I can see the humor in your question!

However, I've been wondering about Coroplast myself, as I have several sheets of it.

According to the MSDS, it's a POLYPROPYLENE COPOLYMER. There's nothing about the production of hydrogen or vinyl chlorides.

Section 4 — Fire and Explosion Data
Fire Extinguishing Media: Carbon Dioxide, Foam, Dry Chemical, Water Spray.
Special Fire Fighting Procedures: Recommend NIOSH approved self contained breathing apparatus.
Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: Decomposition and combustion products may be hazardous.

So - I'd say it's worth checking into. Doesn't seem to be any more dangerous than any other of the plastics we usually cut/engrave (as long as the fumes are exhausted.)
