So I've read that repetier is french, but the guy who is responsible for the software is german and I find I can find a translation of the word for both german and french.

Which is it and how is this properly pronounced? Why?

My free interpretation:

Repetieren is a german verb = to repeat
Repetieren comes from Latin repetere: re-petere, re = again, petere = do/make => do again.
Repetier is generally used with other words, e.g. Repetier-Gewehr = repeater (repeating rifle/gun).

Having still not resolved this question with information around the Internet, I filed an issue on github. I'm far to interested in this.
