Think NEMA 23 steppers could work.

I have some nice NEMA 23s I used on a McWire repstrap a couple of years ago.

Do you think they could be used on the 2.x with adapter plates and changing the length of the standoffs to accommodate the thickness of the adapter material?

The main constraint would be the difference in width, I suppose. Also the gantry would be a bit heavier.

Here is Nema23 shown for reference. It looks doable, but probably not worth the effort.

I see what you mean. I was thinking there might be enough clearance to center the 23 on the existing hole. It looks like moving the motor to closer to the body of the bracket would cause the 23 to interfere with the delrin bearings.

It's a pity that the 17s may delay our builds. Is there an existing 17 with a smaller shaft that would do the deed? If so we would just need to get the appropriate gears, or in the case of the Y drive, couplers that step up the shaft size to 1/4".

Cheers,
