Tunneled Timing Belt

Postby canadaduane » Mon Jan 21, 2013 1:54 am

I'm curious if anyone has previously used the interior of the makerslide as a place to put one side of the timing belt loop:

I'd been racking my brains trying to figure out how to modify bart's DSLR camera slider design to side-mount the motor and came up with this. I haven't seen it before, but I'm sure I'm not the first to design it (I'm never first, the internet has taught me so... :)

I like that design.

I have played with that idea before, but I always tried to do it with conventionally fabricated parts like sheet metal, laser cut or CNC routed parts and did not like what I came up with. I could probably machine your method if I used thick material.
