Ha ha, I'm in on way related to QU-BD, I just posted that comment as they've updated their Kickstarter page with those details. I have no idea when yours will ship - I'm waiting on mine. I was early in the beginning after their "second" batch ordered opened up.

That's news to me :P

On a more relevant note - anyone received their qu-bd yet?

I got mine about a week ago. I haven't had great luck with it. I can get pla to go through for a while but I haven't finished a print without it stripping out the filament yet. I have had no luck with ABS whatsoever. Is anyone else doing any better?

That sounds like it's having serious thermal barrier issues.
Is the filament deformed/bloated at the hot-end barrel entrance when it strips?

There's a thread on the reliability issues on their forum:
http://www.fabric8r.com/forums/showthre ... 4-days-and

Suggestions so far come down to "switch to 8x microstepping" and "cool your driver better".
If it really is the drive gear design / manufacture that's been botched, that's going to be a fiasco.

One of the posts suggests the teeth haven't been resharpened or otherwise refinished after cutting the groove, requiring absurd amounts of pressure from the plunger to get a solid bite. That, combined with the plunger design, which is completely static with no means to compensate for variations in filament diameter, is worrying...

I received mine on Saturday, and the thing I noticed was the sharp edges on the static plunger / set screw. My first thought was to try and sand and then buff the edge off, but that still will not accomodate the inevitable vagaries in filament diameter. I am now thinking that I will add a steel ball and spring or rubber 'O'ring, steel washer and ball.

I haven't got the qu-bd but I am using http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:21686 with the original MK7-extruder and it made a world of difference!
