Mounting Acme Nuts to Stock Delrin?

Postby tango282 » Fri Jul 20, 2012 8:12 pm

Does anyone have any tips for mounting Acme Screw nuts to the stock piece(s) of Delrin? So far I have tried QUIK-CURE Epoxy(http://www.bsi-inc.com/Pages/hobby/epoxies.html and cyanoacrylate. At this point I am thinking of carving out a spot with a dremel. Thoughts?

can you print a new mount? or making a temporary mount, and then print a new part once you have it running?

Heat the end of the acme nut and press it into a slightly undersized hole.

@ Enraged No this is my first printer, but that's exactly what I told the owner of my local hobby store that I happened to be in today  He did turn me on to (really can't remember, wanna say T something looks like this)

Ideally it would be threaded for the Acme Screws (might exist ??) but I was thinking it would just provide a suitable surface for the epoxy.

@TLHarrell Thank you, that is what I determined after walking away :)

I am not yet sure which method I will try
