As others have said bob, very interested in seeing your BOM. Let's put some filament vendors out on the street! :-)

Oh by the way this is what 50 pounds of PLA pellets look like:

I have started a blog on building my version of a filament extruder. It is based upon the work of Filabot, Lyman and Tim's work. The same type of machine. I have a compete woodworking and metal working shop but what I wanted to do is create one that can be completed in most peoples garage. So no slicing of pipes or custom plastic parts to make. Oh there is one plastic part - a 2 liter bottle and you will have to empty it yourself. The bottle will hold 1320 grams of pellets and so should work fine for holding 1Kg of pellets for conversion. I will also be putting up a BOM once I have it working but it makes no sense to post something that would be changing until it is done. I also want to build the Lyman Filament winder and have some ideas as to how to link the two units so that it would take care of its self. I also want to setup a camera to watch it work so that I can see what the mice in the shop are doing.

Bob
I backed Tim's KS for one of his, but I'm still going to build one or more from your BOM when I get caught up with the printers I'm making. In the BOM you didn't state what size the auger to get. I also want to make the heater band with 4 of the 12 volt, 40 watt cartridge heaters. Just want to keep all the voltage at 12 volts on the extruder board. This is where I need help on picking a PID that will work on 12 volts. I'm not very good with electronics.

I would be afraid that the plastic chips will scrape bits of the Bondo and get in the filament with your fix for the "T".
Instead of using a T on mine, I'll just mill a slot in the black pipe and make a clamp around the pipe with threads to hold the soda bottle. The clamp will be 2 pieces of 1 1/2" X 2" by 3" long alum blocks bolted together and drilled down the center where the 2 pieces of alum come together for the pipe (same as the OD of the pipe) and then drill a hole in the top for the bottle.

Keep up the good work

@REdington - In the BOM if you click thru the vendor entry it will take you to the item on the web. It is a 13/16" ship auger. One of the reasons that I selected it was because that is what they had in the store but also has a hardened steel edge welded on and will cut nails when drilling. Also I would not recommend trying to use it to cut nails with a 1/4" black and decker 12v portable drill you will make horable noises, black smoke and have a junk drill when done. Ask me how I know. Also the drill was just fine. I really did want a better portable drill.
