I did not do the video, but it was of my setup at PS1.
BeagleBone is like Raspberry PI in that it runs operating systems like Linux and Android. The BeagleBone has a ton more I/O including analog and is a lot faster, more memory on board flash, etc....
The big thing is the BeagleBone has a PRU (Programmable, Realtime Unit) which makes thing like CNC possible. Many people are using the Raspi to stream Ethernet etc, to their CNC, but the BeagleBone is actually running the controller.
I simply connected a RAMPS to the BeagleBone via jumpers and ran LinuxCNC. There is no Arduino involved.
